Like most British Sub-Aqua Club branches Ratae has two main aims.

  • To encourage safe and successful diving practices amongst its members.
  • To provide training to its members, both those new to the sport and to more experienced divers.

For new divers BSAC diver training is undertaken in the classroom (diving theory), the pool (practical skills) and finally when we are sure the diver is ready, open water. Ratae is a small club and takes on one set of novice divers each year, usually at a time coinciding with the reopening of the pool after the school summer holidays. Training is undertaken at a relaxed but very through rate and we expect each intake to be ready for open water at the beginning of the diving season of the next year.

Unlike many other organizations BSAC club instructors are all volunteers, trainees are only asked to pay fees for the equipment and facilities they use. Like all BSAC clubs we also require new members to pay their year dues to both Ratae and BSAC itself.

If you have any questions about diver training at Ratae or otherwise please e-mail the club training officer.
